Hey y’all - We are Morgan & Sean and we are crafting our home together in beautiful Charleston, South Carolina.
We blog here at Charleston Crafted to share with you our experiences on transforming our home into our dream home. We’re also empowering YOU to try DIY by showing you easy ways to make a huge impact in your home.
Before we started on our DIY journey, we had no idea what we were doing. We have learned as we go and are continuing to learn every day. We have no background in construction or decorating or anything like that. We continue to evolve as DIYers and we are here to show you that crafting your first home doesn’t have to be difficult, scary, or expensive. We love sharing advice as well as projects going on in our own home and we hope that you will enjoy following along.

I can’t believe you said “stunningly beautiful” because I was just fixin’ to write those 2 words. It’s brilliant! I want it!!
Wow thank you 😂 it does make quite the statement!
Where your fan from it’s beautiful 😍
OMG the possibilities I'm obsessed 😍
That’s so cute and easy!!
Prepping early, just like Walmart
@@sirkesterton1541 yep
Or, maybe carry it the proper way???
@@WannabeGamer2218 what way would that be?
Or you pull it out just like you did with that "tool" over your head and carry it to where you need it to be then set it down.....so you can still have toes.
@@feliciasbeard it’s very much a tool. A great one at that.
Both are horribly wrong 😂 grab the damn thing like you have a pair
@@mrdark9916 how would you recommend grabbing it better than I did, Big Man?
Open toe shoes, risky
@@jeffwaterman4144 not really
Try bringing it down another way
@@BoschDaWiseman what way would you suggest?
@CharlestonCrafted instead of pulling it and letting the rest of it fall down push it down and lower the rest up then lower it down into your arm
If you like having toes, DON’T wear flip-flops while unloading plywood!
@@user-bv4se4jf2m how many people have ever had a toe accident unloading plywood?
I'm confused and maybe it's because I'm new so I apologize if this is a stupid question......but you said to sand and to stain "in the direction of the wood grain," but then you proceeded to go back and forth in both directions when sanding, applying the conditioner, and with the stain......if you are supposed to go in the direction of the wood grain why are the application stokes going back and forth? Thanks for any clarification you can provide lol I just want to do it right. 😊

My right finger tips are Unicorn SPiT Teal/Seafoam now. Started off being careful, then just went for it haha. Guitar looks cool but my hand looks rather funny. I read that if you don't have gloves, you can just cake on some lotion or a light coat of vaseline on your fingers to prevent my mistake. Appreciate the info. New to wood staining so trying to learn all that I can. Some of you ladies that are experts with unicorn spit, that get those amazing effects, should really think about doing guitars !
Won’t the sharpie go through the plastic into the cheese?
No
Awesome!!!❤❤❤
All this and you still feed meow mix?! 😥
honestly no we don't. that was for a photoshoot about 2 years ago. you can see how fresh it looks in those shots and a bit more weathered in the more recent shots :)
You can’t put the liter box and her food so close together. That’s a health hazard and is equivalent to using your bathroom as a pantry.
this is actually a thoughtful comment and something i've never considered. thank you.

Such a great space. Great job!
Its so pretty! Im going to try this in the fall :)
i've never seen a grown man so proud of his lack of skill, just be good enough to free hand, or make your own jig in 5 minuets... must be a peloton bro
@@mathewrobertnunez168 in what way do you watch this video and determine I lack skill? You can’t even spell “minutes” correctly.
Ditch the peloton shirt. They're trash.
@@jackwasnimble88 seriously? That’s what you get out of this?

@@fredsanford336 that’s seriously your takeaway from this?
why would you use an impact driver to drill?
@@willpage3990 don’t normally but it’s also fine to do
Sooooo it's just a normal pocket hole jig?
@@madman1101 it’s normal in that it drills pocket holes same as any other jig, but it’s mobile and has a moveable handle and squeeze trigger. Good for some applications.
@@CharlestonCraftedi agree... that clamp could come in very handy!
Great info, thanks.
@@jbutera6215 just posted another one about the Kreg 520!
makes no difference to me as long as its able to drill holes. I'm certainly not going to decide anything based on a video of someone putting a few holes in a piece of wood

do you not understand what "it make no difference to me" means?
The landlord survival kit
True😂
I have a milwaukee saw that I have used for about 15 years. I had the head rebuilt once. Cost me about $90 for the repair. It was my Dad's old saw, that he used for at least 10 years before I used it for the next 15 years. Just saying... They are all junk.
@@KOS762 they are all about the same to me
neither.. I use the red and black ;) starts with a Mil and ends in a waukee. lol
if you buy ryobi you have no business doing other than hanging pictures
@@Excentrix54 that’s a ridiculous take. You just hear that Ryobi is bad and you spout it off. I have been doing woodworking projects for a decade with Ryobi no problem.
What you call woodwork is basic shit. No real carpenter uses that junk
Looks great! Did your walls have any texture on them? What pain sheen did you use for the white base?
@@kimmaguire2779 no texture. We used semi-gloss
Dewalt.

Milwaukee
Craftsman any day but they’re all the same if you ask me
@@davidhey52 agree
Dewalt, but if I had a choice of any tool Makita
If you’re using it professionally, Dewalt. If you’re a DIYer, Ryobi. Hence their price point differences.
@@nathan1sixteen Ryobi can do the same job hinestly
@@CharlestonCrafted Overall, in 2024, I would agree with you. There isn’t a huge difference between the big name brands of power tools these days. That was just always the rule of thumb I was told. Go drive around professional job sights and see what brands the pros are using. Most likely it’s Dewalt, Bosch, Makita, and Milwaukee. So, those are the “professional” brands. With that, though, I feel like most people pre-judge a brands quality by their price point, which doesn’t really work today. First, most of the brands are all around the same price anyways. Second, most of the tools are built in the same factory (TTI builds Ryobi, Ridgid, and Milwaukee, and a lot of the tools have practically interchangeable parts)
@@nathan1sixteen This is what I always try to tell people. It’s the user that makes the difference, not the tool
Professionally, that Dewalt is garbage. XR is their pro-line. Anything else is home owner stuff, better off buying Hercules at Harbor Freight honestly. Ridgid is decent on a budget. However, go Milwaukee FUEL, Dewalt XR, or FLEX if you're a pro...
Dewalt brushless
Bro..... get a leveling rake or just a groundskeeper rake, you trying to kill your back to save a few bucks on a lawn tool that youll be glad to own?
Ryobi
The real test is how each will perform after a year of normal use. In my experience, a year is about the life span of Ryobi. Give or take six months.
@@Griffix96 I have been using these Ryobi drills for about 8 years… most of my other Ryobi tools for more than 5
I have the old blue ryobi drill and Ive dogged them for 20yrs. The batteries are pooped but the tool is perfect.
Neither. Milwaukee or Makita. Both yours suck
@@StaticXtreme444 love it when people say things like that with no basis
nah theres basis, and hes right lol@@CharlestonCrafted
Biased nonsense. Been using DeWalt tools for 25 years and only had one corded drill fail, which they replaced with an SDS for no extra charge.
Crap test, the backside holes would have looked the same if you kept the trigger on the Ryobi.
@@tooltym I kept the trigger going, it jammed up
If you have employees you better buy ryobi. They aint gonna take care of it, so save yourself some $$$
Maybe you should save money even if you don’t have employees
@CharlestonCrafted ill be honest I've been in maintenance for a couple years. To me the battery is the biggest difference. Other than that if I was blind folded using either drill I wouldn't feel the difference.
I would be really pissed if my boss only had Ryobi, shows how little they respect me. If you treat people like they're dumb fucks they're probably gonna act like it and vice versa.
@brendandor well if you treat your tools with respect, you might get nicer ones later.
@@brendandor that’s a ridiculous take
$$ difference. Ryobi is fine.
I agree.
Ryobi all the way if you’re a pro.
Usually pros say the opposite, but I don’t disagree.
😂
There is something to be said for disposable tools.
@@Griffix96 these aren’t disposable, give me a break
@@CharlestonCraftedYou just had a Ryobi not do what a DeWalt can do, and yet you'll say they're tools for professionals? Colour me confused!
